Re: Best Run Club in PL?
stewie,
Best run club has to win stuff, what the point?!, sorry, but for me that is crap.

As for Chelski, You are behind the times, Chelski work like Southhampton these days, sell as much as they buy and net spending is not high. They keep the best players to from a good team and win stuff = best run club

JustAFatKevinDavies, thats Chelskis plan, 30 players in the shop window on loan, they will keep the best and sell the not so good and make a nice wedge in the process

Yes okay the arse won the FA cup, great achievement and would love to do it, but compared to other clubs in their spending league, not good enough. Not the best run.

Re: Best Run Club in PL?
Arsenal do stand out as well run (even if they still can't find a decent central defence pairing).
Southampton are the best for consistently overperforming, I heard an interview with their head of scouting and it was very interesting in quite how far they plan ahead. They assess every member of their squad and work out which ones might be turn out good enough to attract other teams in the next season or two and start scouting for replacements then and there.

Re: Best Run Club in PL?
Yet Arsenal fans moan like fuck in the main (prices and everything) and it's those that you have to please to be well run as a whole.

They are very well run as a business module but customer satisfaction is very bad.

Arsenal's a no for me unless it's to wind up Spurs fans.

Arsenal never win anything?
I know it is not the Premier League but they have won two of the last three FA Cup finals.

"Spurs and the Arse for me are crap because although run well and having massive spending power, they win nothing, absolute crap how can that be the best? "

Simple for me, because there's a difference between the club and the team.
For example, I'm very proud of our team this season for being in the top 10 despite playing in a cesspit, but I'm less pleased with the club because there are people running it who are despicable cunts, like Brady, who moved us to a cesspit.

As I say, for me it's Arsenal by a mile. Top 4 every year for 20 years or so, built a new, self-funded stadium in that time - and when Wenger leaves in the summer, the new manager inherits a team that';s finished in the top 4 for 20 years, and £200 million of spending money that isn't borrowed, stolen, laundered or anything else, it's money the club have earned themselves.

Chelsea are, along with the Man City, by far the worst for me. At the whim of an individual. Fuck that.

Interesting that Alex V thinks Chelsea are well run given they have over 30 players out on loan

Spurs are a well run club on paper but like their title ambitions they go to mush if you add little liquid like if you say you pissed your pants when the title was there for the taking.

Chelsea by a mile.

Best run club has to be a combination of being run well and winning stuff, if you win nothing what is the point?

As for clubs that do not win stuff, it has to be Southhampton

Spurs and the Arse for me are crap because although run well and having massive spending power, they win nothing, absolute crap how can that be the best?

I'm guessing DT et al are not going to agree with anyone who says Arsenal, in fact I would expect him to go into such a rage he would explode !

Without knowing the financial situation of all the clubs it's a bit difficult to say but WBA seem to be doing well given their support

Arsenal, by a country mile

The Arsenal model is what Brady is forming our club on, hell even half of their senior managers and directors moved to West Ham to plan for the move to Stratford

Re: Best Run Club in PL?
The best run club's are the ones that keep their star players for the longest and that those players are at the top of their game for the vast majority of that time so they achieve regular success.

It's why football teams are called CLUBS the rest is a load of number crunching bollocks there to appease those fans whose clubs can't achieve this and need to give a reason as to why their trophy cabinets are bare.

Having an loaded owner is not the same as being well run.

Re: Best Run Club in PL?
I think the Arsenal fans would beg to differ.

Not sure they care about being financially stable and prudent when they are not winning anything and watching a load of other teams overtaking them. Sure from the outside there's some merit in being financially healthy but where does it actually get you when you're supposed to be competing for trophies and your rivals are spending 200 million quid every year and paying their players twice as much?

What's the point in patting yourself on the back for having a load of money sitting in the bank when you really need to spend it on making a better team?

Southampton will run out of luck eventually, managers, owner and players come and go to often to be a model.
